Welcome Back Luncheon at Arbordeau Community Room

This year’s luncheon will be at the lovely community room for the Arbordeau Condo Complex. There is an outdoor patio for mingling and seating and a large interior vaulted open space for our buffet and business meeting. Handicapped access is just a few feet to the left of the main entrance.
Join us to reconnect with members, find out what is planned for the upcoming year and hear from Nancy Cuttic, District 1 Director of the Garden Club Federation of PA.
RSVP: Please respond on this site whether or not you are coming. We need to give a list of all attendees to the Arbordeau gatekeeper.
What to bring? We are asking all attendees to contribute either a table ready side dish, salad, dessert or beverage such as a bottle of wine, seltzer or cider. Please contact Judy Lemco directly to find out what to bring. Volunteers for set-up & clean-up are also needed.
Location: Arbordeau is located across the street from Jenkins Arboretum. Please tell the Gatekeeper that you will be attending the CBGC meeting. The community room will be directly in front of you. Drop off your dish with one of our Greeters then look for a spot at multiple parking locations within the complex. There are a few handicapped spaces directly in front of the entrance. Carpooling is encouraged.

“Forcing Spring Bulbs in Pots”

We will be “forcing” daffodil and hyacinth bulbs in pots with the intention of creating a beautiful arrangement and an explosion of color in the spring! In addition, a speaker from the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners will talk about bulbs for our gardens.
Bring a trowel, garden gloves and your CBGC apron!

Exhibit theme: “Sedum Grow”-make a fall arrangement using 1 or more sedum plants. Can be real, faux or a combination of both materials.

Tabletop Boxwood Tree Make & Take is now SOLD OUT!

CBGC’s own Kathy Guinan will lead us in making a wonderful 12-15″ tabletop boxwood tree out of real greens, oasis and added decorations. There will be a choice of 3 decor themes: red, gold or natural. At home, feel free to place the tree into a larger decorative container, add mini lights or whatever you want to customize it for your home.
Be sure to bring a scissors, tight fitting gloves and your CBGC apron!

Take a break from the mad rush of the holiday season! Relax and join fellow club members for a fun, delicious lunch to celebrate the holidays.
Luncheon fee includes: 2 course meal + specialty chips w fresh quacamole and salsa, welcome cocktail, soft beverages, coffee/tea, tax and tip. Choose your entree from a custom menu including a delicious entree salad when seated.

“Planning for a Pollinator Garden”

Meagan Hopkins-Doerr, Coordinator of the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Chester County and Coordinator of Master Watershed Stewards of Chester & Delaware Counties will be our speaker. She will be speaking about the value of “pollinator gardens”. It should be informative and at just the right time when you will be thinking ahead to your summer garden!
Exhibit Theme: “Monochromatic” arrangement-choose various types of flowers which are all the same or very similar colors.

Lunch and brief business meeting: 11:30-12:30 Attendance is limited to 20 people per session, 40 people for lunch.

Chris Drummond, President of Penny’s by Plaza Flowers, Norristown, PA and/or his staff will work with members individually to make a beautiful spring arrangement. He has requested that we offer two sessions so there is enough time to personally help everyone. He or his staff will also explain the principles and theory of floral design.
Remember to bring clippers and your CBGC apron if you have one!

DIY Moss-look Pot with Plant

11:30 AM Attendance is limited to 40 people.
Gayle Slaybaugh and Sue Strong will guide us in embellishing a clay pot with green sponge paint and a choice of stencils to create a custom vintage look with a 4″ plant to finish it off.
Extra pots without a plant will be available at $5/pot. Contact Gayle at gayleslaybaugh@gmail.com to reserve the # you would like. Payment can be made at the April meeting.
Bring garden gloves, a trowel and your CBGC apron.

Tour of the baronial Beaux Arts era Cairnwood Estate and Gardens located within the Bryn Athyn Historic District, home to some of the most remarkable architecture in the Philadelphia area. The gardens were designed by well known landscape architects Olmsted, Olmsted & Eliot in coordination with Mrs. Gertrude Pitcairn.
Join us for a simple catered lunch on the premises following the tour.
